My husband is in the Navy and is on a new LHD which is now ported in Mississippi. The ship is going to travel?

through the Magellan straits in South America in route to san diego California. The captain has already announced that the ship will be porting in 3 south American ports. The captian unfortunately has not named the 3 ports. I was wondering if anyone in the navy has ever sailed through the Magellan straits of south america and where there ship ported. Also which ports are the best I want to fly to one of them please note what each port has to offer

Rio de Janiero, Brazil, Montevideo, Ureguay or Buenos Aries, Argentina, and lastly Valpariso, Chile seem like likely candidates. All great ports with lots of culture and nightlife.
