Buy Cheap Sailing Boats

I want to live on a boat…?

I know NOTHING about boats and will not buy one for a couple years, but wanted to start doing my research now. I have a bunch of questions…

- I do not need a huge boat, but does anyone have any recommendations as far as the type of boat – sail, motor, etc.?
- Any location recommendations? I would obviously need a boat slip. The cheaper the better. :)
- do most harbors have restroom facilities, showers, etc?
- how would I get electricity for TV and Internet?

Any other info. you can pass along would be great.

Knowing nothing to living on board is a big jump. Time to start planning now and learning about boats and boaters.
Where do you plan to live? What country – State – body of water?
Type of boat depends on if you are going to do any trips with this boat or is it going to remain tied up at the dock. Sail Boats are great for long distance cruising as the fuel to move the boat – the wind is free. There are different types of motor cruisers and they can be quite comfortable to live on and to cruise on. Neither of this type of boat would be fast.
Many of the marinas have showers and restrooms. Most include the use of the facilities with the slip rental. Your slip should have power available to plug your boat into, some provide cable for TV and internet or they have wireless networks available.
I would suggest to take a boaters safety course to start with. Then spend some time at the marina and ask questions, make a few friends and maybe get to see a few friends boat in operation. Offer to help clean or some other service they may need. You may want to purchase a small boat to help learn about boats and see if you like it.

Good Luck – Boat Safe!
