Can I sail from the virgin islands to saint maarten without a passport?

saling on a private boat, not a charter. Travel.state.gov says I can, (for another year under the new law), but the saint maarten site says I need a passport. No time to get a passport, sail in a week! I have my bc with seal, and a license.I know I SHOULD have a passport, but I don’t, so please help!!

Yes you can for one more year and you are correct it does say so on travel.state.gov. To verify or for further info contact the VI Port Authority:
