Sailing the Greek Isles?

My Fiance and I are getting married in Santorini in September and would like to spend some time sailing. We’re not exactly sure what island we plan to visit after Santorini, but we are open to suggestions.

I am looking for suggestions on sailing vacations. Though I used to do a lot of sailing, and even taught sailing, it has been quite a few years, so we won’t be able to do a bareboat charter. Instead, we’ll probably have to do a crewed charter.

Any suggestions on: 1) charter companies to use, or 2) islands to visit would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

First of all congratulations on your marriage!
If I were you, I would contact Fyly or The Moorings charter agencies, they have bases all over Greece and you can charter with a skipper! Keep in mind that the Meltemi wind will be blowing from the North on many days, so it would be best trying to go south. But you are already in Santorini, so move north by ferry and start your journey either from Athens or make an arrangement with the charter agency. The Cyclades islands are of course the most beautiful but don’t come with any comfortable marinas, make sure you have a big enough water tank!
For the Dodecanese islands, check this one http://www.seascape-sail.com/

Have fun!
