does anyone know how to clean a leather purse submerged in sea/salt water?

I bought an expensive pink leather purse and I got half of the bag wet with sea water while sailing. Is it safe to wash it with water? I would assume salt water would damage the leather more in the long run. How should I care for it? Same thing to my leather shoes. Inside of shoes wet. Both soaked in salt water for 2 hrs

I would think you could soak them all in sea water again
for an even distribution of damage. And when dry, wipe with
a wet (clean water) clean soft cloth to remove the surface salt.
….Dry. Then follow up with a Leather treatment paste like Saddle
Soap and buff out. (If cost is min. you can use Vaseline).
Should be near good as new. (Get the paste out of the threaded
area’s with a soft toothbrush).
