Shanklin is one of the coastal towns found along the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, an island in the Solent, which is not far from the south coast of England. Shanklin is known for his traditional old thatched houses located in the old village on top of Shanklin Chine, a word of Saxon origin referred a deep narrow gorge.

The Chine, which is a particularly beautiful gorge is full of waterfalls and is especially designed nature trails. Also There is a Visitor Center, which provides information on the heritage of the island, including a monument to the commands of the Royal Navy, a gift shop and a garden where You can get refreshments. All Chine area covers about three hectares, down to 105 feet from its highest level of the sea.

The entry lower than China can reach from the esplanade along the waterfront. The Heritage Center is located in the bottom of the Chine, along both with tearooms and gift shop. You can also visit the exhibition of 2009 that is celebrated in this locality. During the summer months Shanklin Chine is illuminated at night, turning into the stream in the mystical wonderland. This plain is bordered by rows of hotels and restaurants and novelty shops facing the sea while the main campus retail for more intensive treatment is in Regent Street and High Street. However, for those visitors who prefer to check out the most unusual, go for the small holes in the rock face – the visitor will be surprised to know that, inside these holes, are home to the wasps.

To reach the island it is necessary to cross the Solent. A number of ferry routes running to the Isle of Wight, Southampton, Lymington and Portsmouth. This includes ferries that are capable of carrying vehicles. In particular, roads are available via hovercraft or catamaran. Once you have reached Shanklin, you can take a train ride on the Dotto train starting in the esplanade, travels to the old village and then back to the esplanade, running two or three times per hour. It gets really busy tourists in the Isle of Wight, in the summer.

No visit to the Isle of Wight would be complete without a visit to Osborne House, the most beloved of all residences Queen Victoria, located at East Cowes. Cowes Week 'is an important event in any sailing calendar and if you are fascinated by small boats, a chance not to be missed. For the younger element, the Isle of Wight Festival has proved a big crowd-puller.
