It's been a little over three years that the popular tourist destination of Phuket was beaten by the tsunami. We all remember the terrifying images of this natural disaster largest in recorded history broadcast around the world. Most of us live in Thailand had friends and relatives or people who lost their new direct lives in the tsunami or were inflicted physical and mental difficulties of the waves along the coasts where the Indian Ocean. Phuket, also called the pearl of the Andaman Sea one of the world's most popular destinations tropical resort because of its many attractions ranging from the nightlife of stunning natural beauty and a variety of sports water, the coming years, suddenly seemed destined to lose momentum.
What has changed? What have we learned? What the star has happend risning between tropical islands which was increasingly gaining the reputation of yacht charter and sea fishing DEAP well?
Anchalee Wanitch Thepbutr, president of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization, said that during the second anniversary of the disaster that the island's tourism industry already has brought back to the stage before the tsunami.
The post-tsunami devastation along the popular beaches of Patong, Kamala, Kata and Karon have been replaced by new hotels, restaurants and street markets and once again filled with foreign and local tourists.
The Disaster evacuation plans appear to be history and not implemented so widely postulated after the tsunami had reached in 2004. Also, the beach zoning plan allows people to escape the giant waves also seems to have been forgotten: the strip of beach extends 30 meters from the high tide level to the Prevention and Disaster Mitigation Department required must remain empty and free of any obstacle is filled with chairs, dining tables and booths for food vendors and souvenirs.
In fact only the signals warning that indicates which direction to run if a tsunami were to strike never again reminds visitors of the disaster three years ago.
As an irony of history that of the second anniversary of the tsunami was overshadowed by the scandal of money from foreign donations. A recent letter to the Royal Police of Thailand, signed by diplomats of seven countries asked for an internal audit investigation into the use of sixty million Thai baht in donations.
So until further notice, Phuket remains the main destination for sun and fun seekers. Especially sailing, sailing and fishing Phuket has become increasingly popularity.
The common view of the inhabitants of Phuket, it seems that now everyone is just run and not wait until the wave comes. And that's probably the lesson that remains from the disaster of 2004: Tsunamis can occur in Thailand, before it was thought impossible.
