Jib Sailing
420 Single sail – Which is best?
Two of us are looking to take out a 420 dinghy, but only wish to sail using one sail. What sail would be recommended; jib/genoa or mainsail? We will be sailing in light conditions and in a creek/light coastal. Thanks in advance!
Please take and use both sails. At least take the jib and the main. You loose pointing ability with just the main. You can also “Heave To” and take a break by using both sails. I don’t own a 420, but I have sailed them (nice boat). I sail a Windmill. With more sails, you have more options.
