He account of wearing a big smile on his face. A cheery whistle escaped his lips.
Guidry Jeff was elated … who had achieved the best possible news – The cancer had disappeared! His first idea was taking "his girl" a walk in holding their favorite mountain road. His girl happens to be a bald eagle.
Jeff behalf of their freedom for over 10 years … and he and she are soul mates. Funny, caring for someone or something creates an unbreakable bond.
Jeff was on duty as a protector of animals when they reached … and stayed with her from the beginning. Jeff served for freedom … Not cared for her through surgery, through bandages, through a feeding tube, and through the "touch and go" long nights, when it was unknown whether Liberty could survive their injuries.
For weeks, complete freedom to do was sleep. He was too weak to stand. It broke my heart to see Jeff just lay there and look at him and other rescuers with his wild black eyes that were supposed to hover over peaks mountain, sailing through the trees, screaming, high pitched wails to other eagles.
Euthanasia seemed the only answer … for she seemed in great pain and recovery eluded him. It was even planned for a fateful Friday. But when the Thursday before rolling around, tears Joy and smiles slowly spread from person to person as freedom greeted everyone from a standing position.
What had prevented him life had changed. Now he was ready to live – albeit as a different bird. Its wings were too mutilated to injuries that she will never fly again. Freedom chosen was a bird … as he had chosen life, Jeff chose to be his partner.
"I knew I had been given a new lease on life" Jeff thought as her oncologist told her that her cancer was not found. Those words are the words that every cancer patient desperately wants to hear.
Because freedom and Jeff were a team, Jeff dreamed about her at night while sleeping. He dreamed he was helping him. Freedom helped him fight cancer in his dreams.
As Jeff went to fetch his bride ready for a celebration grateful to walk to the Pine Hill cords … She stopped and pierced the eyes with theirs. A look at Jeff, who after a stroke magic wrapped in their wings … with both wings stretched around his back. Somehow, his brilliant partner majestic wings understands that Jeff's cancer was no longer in his body. Freedom knew that Jeff would also like to live.
What an honor for Jeff to have a relationship so with freedom.
You know, you and I probably will not get to hold an eagle, let alone embraced get one! But can we live with open arms, open our hearts and our minds open to opportunities that each day brings. Jeff believes that freedom might live and he did. Then he turned back to him in a time when they most needed a conclusion. I know there are stories of dogs rescued humans, cats, who alerted their owners to smoke and the horses refused to carry their riders last unknown dangers. I want you to think today that wherever you go there are forces in this world bigger than we see they are helping us as we journey through this land.
The story of Jeff and freedom is one of devotion, companionship and trust. I hope have things in your life. If not today, taking the initial steps to grow. Getting to a neighbor, a classmate, or a team member … You never know what wonderful that the flight can create.
