Son’s 14th birthday — MP3, PSP, or portable DVD? (read entire question first)?

His birthday’s tomorrow. He’ll be leaving next month to sail the florida keys for two weeks. In addition, he’ll be on a bus for a total of six days traveling to and from the keys. Which do you think would be the best gift for the trip, and overall?
He mentioned all three a few weeks ago. I want to surprise him!
Nobody here mentioned the most important detail: which one will work on batteries since he won’t be near electricity while sailing. Therefore, I’m letting the public vote this time.

I would recommend the PSP. The PSP can play video games, movies, and MP3′s. If he is going to be on a long trip then having a variety of entertainment options would be his best bet. The only downside to purchasing the PSP is the fact that it would not play an DVD’s he currently owns and he would have to purchase new movies for about $16-$18 each. However, all things considered I would recommend the PSP over the MP3 player or the DVD player because it combines both of those devices and includes a video game console as well.
