race sailing

If you can run for 20 minutes, you can complete a 5km race. Use this simple plan to prepare.

Three Days

This is the weekly minimum – and maximum if you want to be. This provides the consistency necessary to obtain, and the room to run and compete.

The Long Run

This measure of resistance training building for miles to make sure you are covering the distance. The week before race, run over the race distance to get used to fatigue, and to give a psychological boost – knowing you can finish the race can help relieve nervousness.

Pace

Midweek make runs at the speed of your custom. Slow down for 30 seconds to one minute per kilometer for the long term. New runners must run a minute, then walk a minute for his long, each week.

Race-Day Strategy

Leaving early

Plan to arrive at the race site about 45 minutes early. Leave your house 30 minutes earlier than you think you need. This helps to relieve anxiety – which have long to get your number, go to the rest room and get to the starting line.

Speak Up

At first, telling others that this is your first race. Most respond with stories of his first race and encourage you in yours.

Run slowly

"The first three miles at the speed of the long run, if run / walk, use your regular contact. Pick up the pace a bit for the last mile if you feel good. You may be able to run the race faster, but they resist. A slower pace helps you finish strong, which increases the likelihood that you'll race again.

Forget about being the last

Odds are there will be riders behind you. However, the last of these has its advantages, the final finisher often gets the loudest applause.
