In Sailing Alone Around the World is the account of Joshua Slocum sailing aroudnt he world alone Fact or Bull?

I haven’t read the book, nor have seen it in person for that matter; I have only read the synopsis from BN.com/CLASSICS. Is it truth or fiction?

Joshua Slocum was a real man, and he was the first man to sail around the world solo. The accuracy of his account has never been seriously questioned, and enough people now have done the same, so they are in a position to verify the plausibility of his story.

And if you came visit Fairhaven, Mass., about a mile from where I live, there is a monument to him. He, and his story, are very real.
