Sailing Clothes Men

Anyone remember Gilligans Island? What gives?Imponderables?

I loved it as a kid, and yesterday it was on in the waiting room of a car dealer.BUT”,the mate was a mighty sailing man” he was? Gilligan?” The Skipper brave and sure” guess he wasn’t sure about the weather..”If not for the courage of the fearless crew the Minnow would be lost”..so they weren’t lost? OK..Why’d Ginger have ALL those clothes for a 3 hour tour? Why didn’t Mr. Howell have his own yacht? When do the Skipper and Gilligan wash their ONE outfit? How do they shave? If the Professor can make all that stuff, why can’t he fix the boat? If there were satellites and space capsules, why didn’t the Minnow have a working radio? What kind of charter boat is named Minnow anyway? What are they burning in those torches they always have? For an ” uncharted desert isle” there sure are a lot of visitors? Is the Professor sleeping with Ginger, Maryann, or both? And the most important one, WHY DIDN’T THEY KILL GILLIGAN SO THEY WOULD GET SUCCESSFULLY RESCUED????

Here goes…the mate” Gilligan” WAS a mighty sailing man. An accomplished yachtsman from the Vineyard, he raced in several world class sailing events. Put him on a powerboat though and he was hopeless. The Skipper WAS brave and sure.During the war. Before the accident. At the time of the 3 hour tour he was still brave but somewhat unsure. The term “lost” in this case refers to dying at sea.Which they didn’t do (thanks to the courage of the fearless crew…).Ginger was planning an upcoming photo shoot to promote a movie and wanted to figure out which outfit worked best in the salt air. The Howells owned several yachts as part of his shipping empire but were at the “Tropic port” for a business deal and were just killing time while their lawyers were negotiating. The Skipper and Gilligan actually were in uniform and carried many sets in the bow of the Minnow. They shaved with the razors the Skipper had on the boat( he won a whole crate in a poker game….) The Professor couldn’t fix the Minnow because the engine block cracked and he had no way to weld or forge iron. The Minnows radio was washed overboard by a rogue wave early in the “rough weather”. The Minnow was named after the Skippers PT boat in the war. The torches burn fish oil or refined coconut oil. The visitors reflect the islands placement at a juncture between two un-named ocean currents and the jet stream (a few years after the rescue the currents were named and the island today is home to a Sandals resort and Hedonism 5). There was very little intercourse (none) due to a plant native only to the island which virtually removed the human libido.( it is currently being studied for use as a drug for Catholic priests…)And FINALLY, when they first came ashore, Gilligan found the only source of fresh water and refused to let the others know it’s whereabouts , lest his usefulness expire( crafty little devil, huh?). So come on John! Use your head!
