How is the USS Freedom getting to the ocean?

According to the papers, the USS Freedom was just commissioned on Lake Michigan in Milwaukee. It will then set sail for Little Creek, Va for testing. After wards it will sail to Panama City, Fla. Then it will settle in its home port in San Diego.
Pardon my ignorance, but how will it get to the ocean from Lake Michigan?
