What are the best islands to visit by boat the Cyclades?
My wife and I are chartering a sailboat Paros in September, during 7 days, and we would like to have a series of recommendations for nice places to navigate a. We do not like crowded tourist beaches too. In fact, this is what we are looking for: "Good" List: small places with beautiful natural scenery picturesque villages with friendly locals and steeped in history Great restaurants and wine protected anchorages holding large "Bad" List: Popular and crowded tourist traps with a lot of record stores Loud sticky full of partying, drunken tourists Basically, we're looking for that kind of places you really need a boat to see them. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Oh, dear! It is the best choice! A sailboat! I am the captain and I know the area very well. 1. Closed a small island Antiparos (W) to Paros (be careful reefs near the port of Paros and rifles) 2.Sailing to west, two other islands (deserts) Despotiko (beaches) and Strogili. 3.Naxos also very good. Sandy beaches and Northeast winds very good (be careful if you're new) 4. Heading south you can find a Small Cyclades (or Koufonisia incredible, very islands), beautiful beaches! Irakli Donousa, Schinousa are their names. One night stay in Keros (a night full of mysteries!) 5 From there you have to choose: the Southeast's Amorgos (very quiet island, beaches Nice) is the southern island Ios very beautiful, but Santorini crouded and Souther (you should know a lot about) and Anafi (small enough) Southwest Sikinos, Folegandros and Milos (amazing island) south-Vela shouthwest the best destination is the island of Milos (visit Kleftiko, Glaronisia, Papafragas) and then go to the island Kimolos 6. Sifnos is next and has beaches too nice 7. Sailing north (from Paros) find Delos (a unique island, everything is a museum!) And then Myconos (crouded very, very nice too) I suggest you first Naxos visit after Koufonisia, Amorgos, Anafi, Santorini, Sikinos, Folegandros, Milos, Kimolos, Sifnos, Antiparos, Delos and Paros or Naxos back if there is time, Koufonisia, Santorini, Folegandros, Milos, Sifnos, Antiparos, Delos and back to Paros You can find protection anchors holding large (usually sand, to Sometimes, rocks). In most of the yachts Greece have good Bruce type anchors for both the sand (rocks). If there is strong wind or staying put two anchors in the middle of the Gulf. See map to navigate with care, there are many shoals and reefs and be careful if you sail close to the ground (sometimes map does not mention the reefs!). I love Milos (see links), Sifnos (if you visit this island, go to the village Artemonas, taste the sweet "Amygdalota" with almonds and visit the church of Xrisopigi) Folegandros and Koufonisia.
