The cruise liner Queen Mary was for the owners of prominent Cunard flagship from 1936 until his retirement in 1967. She was replaced by the Queen Mary 2.

This ship was designed to be one of the boats for the express service twice a week for Cunard, sailing from Southampton to New York through Cherbourg, France. However, the Queen Mary was forced to serve as a troop transport ship during World War II and the service did not start until the end of the war. This cruise ship, however, undertake this route for over twenty years with siblings of the liner Queen Elizabeth.

After his retirement in 1967, now is moored in Long Beach, California, where it is used as a museum ship and hotel. The retired luxury cruise ship is now a popular destination for ghost hunters and she is said to be the most haunted ocean liner in the world.

Mary's name is taken from Mary of Teck, queen consort of King George V. However, the process was not simple. The ship was originally scheduled to be named the "Victoria", due to a long tradition of Cunard's ships naming names ending in "ia". However, company representatives when King George V asked for permission to name the line after the country "greatest Queen." George V understood this, and said he would be delighted to have the line the name of his wife Mary – not the longest reigning sovereign British Queen Victoria, Cunard, as she had wanted! The story is a legend and is probably not true, but it's an interesting story. The real reason Cunard policy "ia" names are more likely to be due to its merger with the White Star Line, who had a company policy of naming ships "IC" hours of names (like the Titanic and her sisters, Olympic and British), so a new naming system was designed for the new company.

This story is one of many in a difficult history for this ship Crius. After the nomination ceremony, Queen Mary was making her way down the slipway, but built up too fast and almost surpassed its stopping point on the Clyde, Racing forward toward the opposite shore. Fortunately, disaster was averted by drag chains, and the ship was able to put to sea for its maiden voyage in May 1936 27.

For its time, this cruise was a sumptuous interior and entertainment. The vessel had an indoor pool, lounge, library ship, day care, kennel and outdoor ship paddle tennis court. The interior space larger and more luxurious was the Great Hall – dining room – which was two stories high and the pool deck.

During his 30 more years waves aboard the cruise ship gained a fantastic reputation for elegance and speed. His successor, the Queen Mary 2, carried the tradition and good reputation of the denomination and is now arguably the most coveted transatlantic routes in the world.
