Weird Happenings in History?

War of 1812: During the siege on Washington Dc, a fierce hurricane hits the east coast, and as Washington burns, rain snuffs out most of the fires. However a large tornado rips through Washington leaving only a marine barracks building as the only intact building in the city.

TROY: (the possible true story) Following the war in England (not Greece), Oddesius sets sail for home, but instead of sailing east towards Spain (look at my questions on this for further details), he turns west into the Atlantic. After visiting a number of islands, he plans to turn around, when a strong hurricane (the great storm) smashes his fleet agains a rocky coast. The coast is what we now know of as Cuba.

What are some other weird stories out of history.
he would have turned east and then south which probably meant it was on the west coast of england

From England to Spain is east? Sorry, never heard that version. Maybe its my American education.
