I want to join the sailing club at my school?

I'm sixteen, and I have a passion for the water and sailing. I have read many books on the boats, knots, all you need to know. Now, I live on the east coast, in a lovely area of Virginia. I told my dad that I would like to take summer classes sail or join the sailing club at school? My Dad said … well, really hurt. He said he would be a group of rich kids with their own boats and I would be ridiculous. I work for it, I'll pay for it. This is my dream of you. If I save my money, how much is sailing classes? And is this really true?

I think you should enter the sailing club. Even if this is a group of snobs in their own boats, who cares. There are plenty of down to earth people like you it only wants to learn and enjoy sailing. Your goal should be getting an education in sailing and navigation. To do that you should try to get a little something you can from books, classes and being around people who does what he wants. Normally, sailing clubs are relatively cheap to join. Another suggestion is to find a Squadron local electric or Coast Guard Auxiliary U.S. and sign up for their basic security and the nautical field. It does not cost much and is a great start. I believe you can enroll in the course of 16 years of age and after graduation will have a certificate of Nice, which allowed to have a navigation license in many states.
