What type of shoes are best for sailing?

Going sailing tomorrow and need to make sure we are wearing proper shoes. Don’t want to be Gilligan and slip off the side.

If you aren’t buying deck shoes for sailing, maybe you have something in your closet that will work. If you have any tennis shoes or skating shoes with the yellowish grip rubber on the soles, those would be your best bet. If not, converse chucks aren’t bad if you lace them up and the bottoms aren’t worn smooth. If you don’t have any of that, wear tennis shoes or any rubber-soled shoe.

You want something that will give you grip on a wet deck, so you can just try the shoes you have and see which ones grip best in situations like that.
