World Sailing Races

I'm confused …
Well, nothing new then, I hear you say …
but no, bear with me on this.
Youth Worlds has adequate wind to race in two of the first three days. Then it was time according to the official calendar for a day of rest … to restore the bodies tired, regenerate the game plan and focus the mind in the last few days.
Nobody has realized that is traditional in all windsurfing championships [Olympic windsurfing and racing in general] to be able to race well when you decide to have a layday. ISAF Youth World Championship Volvo is no exception.
Layday arrived and the weather was wonderful … for races.
But no … Everyone relaxed and had some down again. I mean, and spent a day on shore due to winds of 30 knots and the event was delayed. 60 countries have sent teams to this event, which is the pinnacle of youth sailing and windsurfing youth. Second only to the Olympic sailing regatta … and the first 4 days, only 2 were spent racing.
Now, when racing resumed on the fifth day (Wednesday), not to run again. So instead of having competed in four of five days or even three of the five days has been reduced to only two five days. Can anyone make sense of this for me? Laydays Should not be kept in reserve for use when the race was delayed?
Well, one answer is that the careers of young people sailing / windsurfing level is more than just competition. This is an opportunity to meet with their peer group from different nations around the world. To learn how to think, have fun together and go home with a broader look at what you came with.
Laudable ideal … I'm sure, but nations signed their teams to the race. Mano a Mano gold medal as a team to the coveted trophy from Volvo. Many have trained for months, even years. Parents and sponsors have made significant investments, money and personal time.
The ideal should be to match. Pinnacle Events has a reputation to height. Sailors finished first in the race. To do your best and test themselves against the best in the world. Race Directors are experienced on hand to make difficult decisions … as giving up the pleasures of a layday.
The Volvo brand represents excellence, longevity and robustness. In the light of any nature throws at you, you are above all safe in a Volvo … and you are driving a winning record.
This tournament has a lot to accomplish. Maybe this time, he made the wrong call.
