Yacht Sailing Tips
What type of sailing boots?
Hey,
I’m about to compete in a yacht race next week and I could really do with some tips on what is the best waterproof footwear to use. I’ve got Hunter wellies but I hear they may not be too good for grip? Are Le Chameau boots any better (I can borrow some) or is it worth getting proper sailing wellies?
Cheers
Iain
As long as the boot has a non slip sole like a normal pair of deck shoes you should be fine. If you’re talking about a pair of muck boots that you’d wear in mud and snow, you don’t want to wear them, but if the pair of LeChameau boots you mentioned look like the boots in the link below they’ll work great. In a pinch I’ve even found that baggies worn over socks inside of deck shoes work well, and if the water is warm enough you really don’t even need boots, barefoot in deck shoes works great.
Good luck in your race.
